Dorothy West (June 2, 1907 - August 16, 1998)
A member of the Harlem Renaissance, Dorothy West is best known for her novels The Living Is Easy (1948) and The Wedding (1995). Her works often explore themes of race, class, and family dynamics within the African American community. Despite her considerable talent, West's contributions have been overshadowed by her contemporaries, making her an unsung hero of African American literature.
